COVID-19 testing

We have introduced COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) testing both for active infection, and immunological marker of past infection. The tests are provided by accredited UK partner laboratory. They come as postal kits, and can be self-administered at home therefore there is no need to attend the clinic. Infection with SARS-CoV-2, an RNA virus, is diagnosed using molecular testing, reverse-transcriptase PCR swab. The incubation period of COVID-19 ranges from between 1 to 14 days, with the majority of cases manifesting with symptoms at 3 – 5 days. The assays used at TDL show a minimum sensitivity of 98% and a specificity of 100%, with no cross-reactivity with other viruses. As with all viral PCR assays, patients with very low viral loads are less likely to be detected. Negative  (or ‘NOT detected’) results do...

Sweden model for Covid outbreak

The World Health Organisation bristles at quarantines shorter than 14 days. But the Swedish approach is to have measures that people can live with for at least a year, says Dr Carlson, because there is no vaccine yet. The goal is to stop as much transmission as possible without unduly disrupting people’s lives, especially in ways that harm their mental or physical (not to mention economic) health. Transmission happens most easily within households, and people are most contagious in the first week after they are infected. So Sweden’s quarantine policy could stop the bulk of covid’s spread—as long as people comply....

Covid19 lockdown

As a result of Covid19 pandemic UK government regulations, we had to close our testing services in the middle of March. As yet we have not been able to resume our services apart from remote video consultations. We hope we will be able to reopen in the near future....

Aerobic Fitness and Metabolism

A new study cofirms what we at Senegenix have always felt is the case, cardiovascular or aerobic training is far superior to muscular strength training for a healthy metabolism. I leave you with this recent article in NY Times. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/04/well/move/aerobic-fitness-may-trump-strength-for-metabolic-health.html...

Launching research

We are launching today our research study into the relationship between cardio-respiratory fitness level and body composition. Is it better to have an optimum body composition or a higher fitness level for health protection? Does a high fitness level implies also optimal body composition? How about the other way around? We will be seeking to answer these questions in our study. We are therefore recruiting 50 subjects with high fitness level to run them through our Senegenix Health check tool, and analyse the results in order to answer the study questions. The study is funded by Senegenix. Although we cannot pay test subjects, we will offer the Senegenix Healthcheck to them for the purposes of preventive medicine free of charge. This Healthcheck is worth £100.00....
